Professor Geoff Lindeman is Joint Head of the Cancer Biology and Stem Cells Division at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute a sessional medical oncologist at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Royal Melbourne Hospital, where his clinical focus is on breast cancer and hereditary breast cancer.

He established the RMH Familial Cancer Centre and was inaugural Director of the Parkville Familial Cancer Centre. His laboratory is focused on understanding normal mammary gland development and perturbations that give rise to breast cancer.

His group identified breast stem and progenitor cells including the likely cell of origin for breast cancers arising in BRCA1 mutation carriers, findings that contributed to the BRCA-P prevention study. His group also uses patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models to test promising anti-cancer agents, including BH3 mimetics.
