Sustainability

At Breast Cancer Trials, our number one focus is saving lives from breast cancer by improving treatments and prevention strategies through clinical trials research. However, we also recognise that every organisation can do its part to operate efficiently and sustainably.

We are pleased to be certified as a carbon-neutral organisation and have been working to reduce our carbon emissions by measuring our impact, reducing our waste and carbon footprint, offsetting our emissions, switching to a renewable energy source, implementing an ethical investment strategy, and ensuring supply chains have sustainable practices in place. We also take measures to ensure our annual conference is following environmentally sustainable practices through carbon offsetting our flights, re-using lanyards, and reducing paper waste through our conference app, which is used by our delegates and sponsors.

BCT is proud to be working with companies who share the same values when it comes to sustainability. Visit the links below to find out more about the sustainability practices of ACCOR Group, which the Pullman Hotel falls under, and the Cairns Convention Centre where our 45th Annual Scientific Meeting will be held.

ACCOR Group

Accor Group, as an overarching company has a sustainability program that the hotel commits to, which is detailed and can be found via the button below.

Accor have recently also launched a net-zero carbon calculator to help clients calculate the carbon footprint of their stay and allow the purchase of carbon credits to balance the remaining emissions.

The Cairns Convention Centre

From the design of our venue, the use of the latest energy-efficient technologies to the adoption of sustainable operating practices, the Cairns Convention Centre (CCC) is committed to being as environmentally sustainable as possible.

Events held at CCC can utilise the Reforest Program organised by Business Events Cairns & Great Barrier Reef. Through the program delegates help eliminate the event’s carbon impact by supporting localised tree planting and revegetation programs, like the endangered Mabi rainforest.
